In this presentation we will showcase work completed by our first cohort of learners in a new small school program, launched at Trumansburg Central School District in September 2022. Our learners currently receive credit for a STEAM elective, a French elective, and a required Equity credit. In addition to sharing our process for launching this initiative, we will use student voices and examples of student work to explain how we structure our time together, how we create a strong learning community that fosters joy and creativity, and how we ensure that student outcomes reflect NYS World Language Standards, ISTE standards, and Learning for Justice’s Social Justice Standards.

Our students conduct community interviews to generate app prototypes that meet authentic needs, explore tech career pathways, and build professional skills.
With Scratch students can easily learn block coding. This course will give you ways you can use Scratch with your students that connect to your curriculum, extend your curriculum, and provide students with some basic coding experiences. This class is for teachers with little experience in coding.
This presentation is about our interdisciplinary space unit, where students work on exploring Mars and answering the essential question "Is there life outside of earth?" We use a hands on exploration and research process where students get to drive the direction of the learning. Students make rovers and work as a team to answer the essential question.
Participants will learn to implement a mind body reading experience to help students cope with trauma and to help struggling readers develop metacognitive awareness and comprehension skills. Text themes integrate mindfulness concepts; students will grow in skills to overcome challenges, manage friendships, deal with loss, and appreciate individualism and diversity. Read alouds will become accessible to all through the utilization of technology. Then, students will use newly acquired mindfulness skills to create social stories using Book Creator, Canva, or iMovie to share with peers.
